Lamego - A Sacred Pilgrimage
May 12, 2026
Pilgrimage is not something we always set out to do of our own volition, it is often a calling from the spiritual realms to walk towards something our deep soul is yearning for, which our conscious mind has yet to comprehend. Modern man has become so caught up in the mind, and mechanistic thinking, that pilgrimage is the antidote which jolts us back into our divine nature.
We are divinity. We are nature. We are creation. We are cosmic beings.
Most recently I had an experience of a call to pilgrimage with a fellow pilgrim. We were guided to Lamego, as if on a whim rather than by a divine plan, and climbed the 800 steps to Nossa Senhora dos Remedios. We prayed inside the church, and in different ways were blessed with spiritual gifts to take away.
A feeling of such inner abundance, reminded me that when we take delight in God, we really are granted the desires of our hearts.

We all need healing. We have all suffered wounds and lacerations to our bodies and minds. Pilgrimage helps to heal those deep parts of us, so that we are restored to our full life force. The remedies for healing are many and varied, and seeking what’s right for us is a lifetimes work.

God knocks at our door when we are ready for his unique remedy for us. Pablo Neruda said: “ It is I, my love who knocks at your door.” It is God who knocks, when we are ready to open a new portal and cross a new threshold.
Go to Lamego and touch the healing waters, as our Lady smiles with grace on your outstretched hands. Knock and the door will be opened unto you. For when you seek, you will find.
Buen Camino.
