Jean Paul Chazalon is an intergenerational Huguenot wine maker and soil alchemist. As soon as he puts his hands in the earth, there is a magical and mystical transformation. Whatever he grows, from carrots to leeks to green beans and grain, it grows with such abundance and nourishment that it’s like eating joy on a plate. He shares his farm with the young generation of regenerative agriculture visionaries, and provides space and place for gathering and sharing, and making music and laughter, as a secure community should. He was my neighbour in France and taught me so much about the sacred in the land. I’ve brought so much of his wisdom to Portugal. My next cunning plan is to bring him in person to northern Portugal, to share his soil and soul wisdom with other aligned earth guardians. That’s my intention for 2026, which I am casting to the winds to be manifested.
